My parent's and Grandmother arrived in London on Saturday night! Rocky and I went to London to see them, which was a delightful time! On Saturday night we arrived in London fairly late, so we showed them the way to their hotel, where we ate supper, before Rocky and I headed over to our hostel.
Our hostel was a bit of a disaster. While it was in one of the nicer areas we've stayed in, on the inside it was... interesting. The worst of all part though, was the fact that the mattress had so many springs poking me that I'm pretty sure that I woke up with bruises. But we survived the night, and I spend Sunday night in my granny's room (while Rocky went back to the springy mattresses at our hostel!).
Sunday we spent the day walking around the more touristy areas. We walked around the parliament buildings and Big Ben, then walked toward Buckingham Palace, where a large crowd had gathered, so, being that it was Easter Sunday we thought that something exciting might be happening there... but as it turned out, everyone was waiting for two very small and unexciting marching bands. Definitely not worth the hour we spent waiting. But we agreed that we wouldn't tell this story. (oops).
After the Marching bands we ate lunch before walking over to the London Eye, were we got to see the views over London, which are amazing! After, we went over to Westminster Abbey were we looked around at the architecture, then walked toward Tower Bridge, until we could see it, as we decided against walking all the way over, as by this time we were getting hungry and tired. We ate pizza, and Rocky was very excited because he ordered the "most spicy" pizza they had, which turned out to be not very spicy, making him wonder why they bothered to advertise it as extra-spicy. We then headed back to the hotel, where we talked for a while before we all went to sleep.
Monday we went to the Natural History Museum, which was very crowded, but very interesting. By the end of the day everyone was very tired, and Rocky and I headed home on the train. Due to rail maintenance, our train ride was a bit longer and more adventurous than usual. So we were very happy to arrive home without getting too lost. (We only took one wrong train, but luckily this was easily remedied, and we managed to catch our connection with a good 10 seconds to spare).
Mom, Dad, and Granny are now continuing their trip in Great Britain, heading on a tour around the country, before coming here next Thursday, when they are spending a few days here before I go to Scotland with them for a week. It should all be very exciting. A week after I get home I'm going to Ireland with my sisters, plus Rocky leaves on the 1st when his Dad and Oma arrive and they are going on vacation through Europe, so we both have some big trips coming up!
